8+ reasons to visit Prague off-season
With the coming of September and changes of the weather you already miss those summer days. We bet you are now dreaming of a vacation or a small get-away. We, at Bohemian Hostels, came up with an idea to give you a few reasons of why Prague is the best option for you to space one of your weekends for a Prague trip.
1. Sweater-season experience
Even though we are already subconsciously missing our summer sweaty days, you can hold on for a minute here. Prague’s autumn is pretty warm and even can be no different from the August weather. As we make our way through Autumn, you can experience stunning fall views of Prague, get wrapped into cozy jackets and sweaters and delight in the main sights of the city.
2. Cannot be avoided
Additional reason why you cannot miss visiting Prague is these exciting events that are held in town during the fall.
Wine harvest/Wine Fests: Yes, wine! Every castle, garden and most of the squares will be turning into festivals with stands of a young wine, full of food and good mood.
Signal Fest: As nights cool down, the city lights up, turning into an interactive playground of light installations. Something that you cannot miss and experience anywhere else.
Zažít město jinak ( experience the city differently): Taste a bit of each neighborhood in Prague! It is a unique set of street events going on in most famous districts, an amazing opportunity to embrace yourself with the local vibe to the fullest with music, food, and drinks.
See how we enjoyed it last year.
3. Time for some Czech cuisine
Fall is the right time to get most of the Czech food. It is delicious, hearty, filling, and finger-licking good. It is the perfect comfort food and the fall weather make the goulash and meaty pork knuckle with bread dumplings a little bit easier to digest. Finally an excuse to try at least one of the fatty dishes and forget about your diet.
4. It is beer time
Warm yourself up with a glass of beer! Of course should try famous the Pilsner, if you have not yet. But there are also many craft breweries that are brewing seasonal beer as for example Pumpking Ale that cannot get any better. Do not forget to also check our bars for some special seasonal treat!
5. SPA treats
Did you know that the Czech Republic is one of the countries that have most significantly contributed to the development and global importance of spas? As wellness is pretty popular in Prague, Sir Toby’s wrote up the small guide to get a full dive into this experience. Toby’s sister property, Miss Sophie’s, as every girl wants to stay in trend, recently opened her own cosy wellness that you should definitely check out.
6. Fewer crowds
Prague has become a very popular tourist destination, especially in the summer months. Travel to Prague in autumn is a relaxed affair, allows you to avoid the worst of crowds. This means shorter lines, fewer people around one sight, more space and opportunity to discover hidden gems in a new city. To open up we will give you the first hint is Skautský institut – Amazing hidden cafe right in the center of Prague, with no tourists around.

7. Evening fun
After the busy day exploring the streets of Prague you can easily join (if confident enough even in your pyjamas) the evening fun. We all know here that you have missed so many indoor events because you have another reason to come and get yourself turned up: Beer tastings, Pancakes nights, Comedy shows and much more is waiting for you to fully embrace Czech culture. Trust us – you are never too tired for a pint of beer when the bar is just a few steps away.
